I founded the AggieTech Racing Team at New Mexico State University, an officially recognized Formula SAE club focused on the design and development of a gasoline-powered vehicle. The project integrates key areas of mechanical and aerospace engineering, including CAD/CAE modeling, finite element analysis, vehicle dynamics, and wind tunnel testing.
As team president, I established the organizational structure, legal framework, and operating procedures necessary to ensure long-term sustainability of the program. With support from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, the team is building strong foundations to advance in the areas of design, simulation, and manufacturing.
The engineering process includes the use of SolidWorks and NX for 3D modeling and assemblies, ANSYS for thermal and structural simulations, and wind tunnel facilities for aerodynamic evaluation. These tools allow the team to apply design for manufacturing principles, optimize performance, and prepare for future competition in Formula SAE.
In parallel, the team develops outreach strategies to attract sponsors and engage students, managing online platforms that share motorsport engineering content and technical insights. This combination of technical design, structured project management, and communication creates a solid framework for AggieTech Racing to compete at a high level in the near future.
